Horrific

I watched Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA) debate Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS) this morning on ABC's This Week with George Stephanolous and all I can say is from under what rock did this Brownback fella crawl out from under and could somebody please kick him back under it? This alleged human being is so jesus-freakified that he's willing to let people like Sen. Specter die of Hodgkins lymphoma in order that some unattached piece of subatomic goo be kept in the Kelvinator on the off-chance that someone will want to adopt it. That's his definition of the "culture of life." Sen. Specter, who is in the process of chemotherapy and with his bald head, hollow cheeks, and raspy voice looks like an ad for death, held his own, and several times got in some good swats at Brownback.

What does is do to the culture of life when you let people die because there are medical research tools which could keep them alive? I hate to personalize this, but when I look back on 1970, and President Nixon declared war on cancer, if that war had been adequately funded like the rest of our wars, I might not have Hodgkin's lymphoma cancer today.

Brownback's response was that he prays for Specter every day. Well, whoop-de-doo, Sen. Brownback! I'm sure that everyone and every family with someone who is suffering from a disease that could possibly be treated or cured from stem-cell ressearch -- including the Empress Dowager of the Republican Party, Nancy Reagan -- would like to tell you to take your culture of life and put it where the sun doth not shine, you pompous, arrogant, homophobic, Jesus-shouting patronizing son of a bitch.

Oh, and I hear Sen. Brownback is considering running for president in 2008. Oh, please -- bring it on. It would make blogging that race more fun than seeing Ann Coulter in drag.
