Back to Work

It's going to be a light morning for blogging since I have six days' worth of stuff to catch up on at the office -- on about three hours' sleep (see below). But first glance through the headlines shows that a couple of noteworthy things to pass comment on:

  • Keith Olbermann had another good special commentary last night. It's good to see considered and thoughtful opinions get on the air. Regardless of the point of view, well-written criticism has been in danger for years in deference to the snappy sound-bite and exit cue. With his recent commentaries Mr. Olbermann joins the honored ranks of Edward R. Murrow, William F. Buckley, and Bill Moyers as wordsmiths on television.

  • Hugo Chavez calls Bush "the devil" and the orcosphere goes nuts. Jerry Falwell pretty much does the same thing to Hillary Clinton and not a peep. Go figure.

  • Sen. George Allen is accused of using the N-word when he was in college. Was it a youthful indiscretion or a pattern of pathological behavior that marks the man for life? Well, since he's a Republican, it's probably the former. The latter only applies to Democrats who get blow jobs.

Let me know if I missed anything else.
