Comparison Shopping

Mitt Romney may have better hair than John Edwards, but when it comes to photo ops, he's not so sharp. He was recently photographed with a supporter in South Carolina who held up a sign that put Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton on the same page as Osama bin Laden in an alliterative -- if not Spell Checked -- way that caught the attention of the former governor of Massachusetts.

Eric Kleefeld at TPM's Election Central asked the Romney campaign about this:
Election Central contacted Romney spokesman Kevin Madden for comment, asking if it was appropriate for the candidate to hold the sign up with the woman. "The governor stopped briefly for a picture with a supporter who just happened to be holding their own sign with an alliterative play on words," Madden said, via e-mail. "I don’t think it was equating or comparing anyone."
So, to echo what Eric wonders, if Barack Obama holds up a sign equating President Bush to Adolf Hitler, it's no big deal, right?
