Minneapolis Bridge Collapse

Here's a link to the Minneapolis Star Tribune with the latest coverage.

The death toll is sure to rise as recovery efforts continue.

Noah Kunin of Blanked-Out live-blogged the event from his home, which is right next to the bridge. He spent a lot of time helping get people off the bridge, then was evacuated.

I lived in Minneapolis back in the mid-1970's while I attended grad school at the University of Minnesota. I don't recall ever driving over that portion of I-35W, but even a cursory glance at a map shows that it is a vital link between parts of the city. Aside from the human toll, this will be a major disruption to life and commerce in the Twin Cities.
